1. Payment terms
1.1. We will issue an invoice for the full amount due upon completion of the services at the end of each visit (unless attending on consecutive days). Invoices will be due for payment 7 days from the date of the invoice. All payments will be in Pounds Sterling. Title of materials supplied only passes on full payment of the invoice.
1.2. Any monies still outstanding after the 7 days will be subject to interest at 8% above the Bank of England base rate set per year, apportioned for the number of days the payment is overdue. Legal action will be taken accordingly if payment is not settled.
1.3. The total charge to the customer, for works carried out on the time and materials rate (as opposed to a quotation), shall consist of the cost of the materials supplied by Ealing Electricians LTD, and the amount of time spent by the electrician(s) and any other person(s) present (qualified or unqualified) in carrying out the works (including all reasonable time spent in obtaining materials) charged in accordance with the pricing structure displayed on the website. Please note that the ‘clock’ starts from the moment that we enter the site.
1.4. Further to this, any parking charges, congestion charges, low emission zone charges incurred at the time of works (including distance charges as per the website – further than 5 miles) will be passed on to the customer and invoiced accordingly.
1.5. At minimum, each job will be attended to by one qualified electrician and one/two unqualified person(s) as standard. Where the works are deemed to require the assistance of further additional qualified and / or unqualified person(s), the client will be notified prior to attending with as much notice as possible.
1.6. Collection of non-stock items is chargeable at the current rates; the materials normally stocked are at the discretion of Ealing Electricians LTD. Time taken for collection of stock will be kept to a minimum as far as reasonably possible. Only one person will leave the job to collect parts, unless two persons are needed to handle the safe collection of goods. The collection of materials which should be normally stocked items is non-chargeable.
1.7. Should we not be able to enter the property at the time of the confirmed appointment, or are unable to carry out the works, due to no fault of Ealing Electricians LTD, you (the customer or party responsible for booking the appointment, including third parties such as estate agents or managers) will be subject to the call out charge as per the pricing structure on the website, applicable to all jobs including quotations. Please note that a maximum of 15 minutes waiting time will be allowed for before the appointment is terminated.
1.8. If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, it is your duty to notify Ealing Electricians LTD without hesitation. Please note that once the qualified electrician is on his/her way to the property, the appointment can no longer be cancelled and the call out charge will apply (applicable for standard and emergency appointments). For any appointments cancelled within 24 hours of the agreed appointment, Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge an admin fee of £50 + VAT.
1.9. Please note that Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge a mark-up on any materials supplied (percentage at the discretion of the company).
1.10. All prices are subject to VAT at the prevailing rate of 20%.
2. Quotations
2.1. Any quotations for domestic or commercial electrical works exceeding £1,000 (excl. VAT), will require a deposit of 50% before any work can commence. This amount will need to be received within 7 days from date of deposit invoice or 48 hours prior to the works commencing, whichever is the earlier of, otherwise we reserve the right to cancel the scheduled appointment without notifying you. Payment can be made by bank transfer, cheque or cash as per the bank details specified on the deposit invoice.
2.2. For all quoted works the main and equipotential earth bonding must be in an adequate condition, with no latent defects in the existing electrical installation that could cause problems for the new equipment / protective devices. If this is found to not be in a satisfactory condition and as such, the planned works cannot proceed, Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge for the time spent at the property at the standard time and materials rate as per the current prices displayed on the website. The original quotation will be cancelled and a revised quotation issued, with a new appointment arranged accordingly.
2.3. All quotations are valid for 30 days from the date the quotation is issued (date as stated on the quotation). The works must be carried out within 60 days of date of acceptance. If the works are not carried out within this timeframe we reserve the right to amend the quotation as appropriate to reflect any fluctuations in the cost of labour and / or materials.
2.4. Only quotations issued on Ealing Electricians LTD letter-headed paper are valid. Please note that quotations will only be issued where it is deemed necessary, at the discretion of Ealing Electricians LTD.
2.5. The customer has the right to cancel within 14 days following the making of the contract. It is your (the clients) responsibility to notify us (Ealing Electricians LTD) within the 14-day cooling off period (from date of acceptance) that you don’t need the quoted works / service anymore. This should be done by call, email or text message. If you have paid a deposit, this should be returned to you within 14 business days. Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge an admin fee of £50 + VAT, which will be invoiced direct or deducted from the deposit.
3. Our electrical service and guarantee
3.1. All work will be carried out to the Institute of Engineering and Technology Requirements for Electrical Installations, 18th Edition (2018), BS7671(2018) + AM2(2022).
3.2. Any items that are found to be contrary to BS7671(2008) + AM2(2022) will be reported and remedial works discussed and recommended.
3.3. All new installation work is guaranteed for six years. Please note that this guarantee only covers work carried out by Ealing Electricians LTD. If any works carried out by Ealing Electricians LTD has been tampered with, damaged or altered by another person(s), our guarantee is void. For works carried out on existing installations such as repair works or additions to existing installations, a one year guarantee applies.
3.4. No guarantee is provided where emergency repair works are requested by you, the client, on the emergency service and a temporary fix is provided, for example to reinstate power in the interim.
3.5. Any products supplied are subject to the manufacturers standard 1-year guarantee. If any items fail within this period and have been supplied by Ealing Electricians LTD, a new replacement item will be supplied and installed at no charge to the client. After the one year period, all
replacements are chargeable at the current time and materials rate. We will collect the faulty item(s) on our visit to carry out the replacement works. If the item is no longer present and has been either stolen, discarded, physically broken or vandalised, the guarantee will be void. If upon inspection, it is found that the item or the workmanship carried out by Ealing Electricians LTD is not at fault, and the problem is with the existing installation, a solution will be provided to repair said fault, however Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge for the time spent at the property and any additional materials used, charged at the current time and materials rate. 3.6. Cables will be concealed where possible but will be surface run where, in the opinion of Ealing Electricians LTD, this is impractical.
3.7. No responsibility is accepted for any making good to the plaster and / or decorations (i.e., no allowances are made for re-decorating or re-plastering in any capacity). Some works where cabling and accessories are to be recessed into the walls will require making good afterwards for which the client will be responsible for arranging said redecoration works. No responsibility is taken for any damage to decorations whilst carrying out the requested works.
3.8. It is your (the client(s)) responsibility to ensure that necessary precautions are taken for any dust which may arise from the works. Although precautions will be taken to keep dust / dirt to a minimum (i.e., use of shoe-bags, dustsheets (where deemed necessary), etc.), we cannot accept any responsibility for any airborne dust which may require professional cleaning afterwards, or associated costs. Upon completion of works the work area will be left clean and tidy as far as reasonably possible.
3.9. Floor coverings / boards maybe taken up where necessary to assist with the agreed works, with the client notified on the day / prior to lifting, however no guarantee is given that these floor coverings / boards will be returned to position in the same condition i.e. old lino (will often crack if disturbed), hardboard, floorboards and carpets.
3.10. It is the customer’s responsibility to move all furniture and / or any obstructions that may impede our team during any electrical works. Ealing Electricians LTD may assist with the moving of these obstructions at the discretion of the staff in attendance, with verbal or written permission of the client / contact on site, but Ealing Electricians LTD take no responsibility for any damage that may arise from moving such items.
3.11. The customer is to advise Ealing Electricians LTD of the location of any concealed water, gas, electrical, telephone or other services prior to the commencement of the installation work. In the absence of such advice, Ealing Electricians LTD cannot accept any liability for damage to these services or consequential loss due to the services being damaged.
3.12. Ealing Electricians LTD request that where Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) are carried out, that you advise the team of any hidden or concealed electrical sockets or outlets, as far as reasonably possible, to ensure thoroughness of the inspection (this includes but is not limited to, where sockets are concealed within built in wardrobes or behind furniture). Ealing Electricians LTD cannot accept liability for any accessories not tested / inspected if this information has not been provided.
4. Health and Safety
4.1. The customer is to advise Ealing Electricians LTD in writing of the location of any asbestos or asbestos type material that can be found on the premises.
4.2. Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to refuse to complete contracts where asbestos is present or suspected of being present, due to the potential dangers it exposes to our team. This will be communicated in writing (including but not limited to, text messages and emails) and an invoice will be issued for the portion of work completed up to the moment where the asbestos is suspected of being present. The site will be left in a safe condition with respect to the electrics however no further work will be undertaken and neither will we reinstate the installation to a state prior to commencing works. An alternative appointment will be arranged once the site is deemed safe to visit.
5. General
5.1. Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to use photographic imagery of works completed and ongoing, for company content. Should you not wish for us to use imagery relating to your property, please confirm this in writing.
5.2. Where the date and / or time for works to be carried out is agreed by Ealing Electricians LTD with the customer, then Ealing Electricians LTD shall use all reasonable endeavours to ensure that the engineer/electrician (and team, if applicable) shall attend on the date and at the time agreed. However, sometimes this may not be possible or re-arrangements may be required, in which case we accept no liability in respect of the non-attendance or late attendance on site or for the late or non-delivery of materials. We will strive to give you as much notice as possible and communicate with you any delays.
5.3. For all un-quoted works the main and equipotential earth bonding must be in an adequate condition, with no latent defects in the existing electrical installation that could cause problems for the new equipment / protective devices. If this is found to not be in a satisfactory condition and as such, the planned works cannot proceed, Ealing Electricians LTD reserve the right to charge for the time spent at the property at the standard time and materials rate as per the current prices displayed on the website. We reserve the right to stop the appointment until a solution has been agreed with the client.
5.4. Please note that where an emergency appointment arises, all planned / scheduled works will be temporarily paused until the emergency has been resolved. The site will be left in a safe condition with respect to the electrical installation until we can return to continue with the works (either same day or at a new appointment). Again, we will strive to give you as much notice as possible and communicate with you any delays.
5.5. Occasionally things may not go to plan. If you have a complaint about our service we will do our best to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
